Cliff Point

Brian and I went out with some friends to a place called Cliff Point this weekend, it is a beach with lots of 4-wheeling trails and some great views of the island. We borrowed a friends 4-wheeler and went to the top of the hill. You can see the town of Kodiak and the Coast Guard base from there. Here are some pics. Carl looks sad in the pictures but he had a great time once we let him off the leash.



This is a pic of us once we got to the top of the mountain with the 4-wheeler. Sorry the picture is a bit lopsided, we set the timer and then put the camera on the 4-wheeler.
This is something we found and we still aren't sure what it is, we think it might have been an old well pump. All around the island are different abandoned WWII sites. This island was mostly military back in the 40's because of it's position and relative closeness to Japan. There are different spots around the island where you can find parts of old bunkers. Even the Coast Guard base was a Navy base until the 70's.
We brought a ziploc bag of food for Carl to eat while we were out there. But we forgot to bring a bowl, so I just let him eat it out of the bag. Our friend Tara was shocked when he ate the whole bag in less than 2 minutes.

This is our friends new six-wheeler, it has the ability to go on land and water. The kids are practicing driving it in this picture.
Carl got kind of sad that he had to be hooked up while the kids were around. He gets a little too excited when the kids are playing with him and he starts to jump.
